Fortuna & Tavares is a company specialized in confection and assembly of fabric hangers and cardboards, with headquarters in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
Our company was born in 2007 however its story begins several years before this date, gathering as support an accumulated experience of over 64 years old. We invite you to read the following tale which documents how our story started:
It was in 1950 when a 12 year old boy was starting his professional career, as the opportunity of learning the art of upholsterer in a well-known shop, located in the heart of Oporto city. Since the beginning, the boy showed real commitment and determination, as he was moving from shop to shop seeking to become increasingly better each day. For him, the most important factor was the amount of professionalism and rigor with which he developed his job, for his pride and perfectionism wouldn’t allow him to be otherwise.
Years went by and this boy, now a man, decided it was the time to fulfill the most desired dream: the creation of his own company, leaving behind the apprentice status. He established his own business, and by his hands and sweat, made it fly! In addition to upholstery, he also offered his clients the services of confectioning and mounting of curtains, quilts, pillows and other accessories. His hard work granted high quality products and services, which made possible that after some years of activity, this man no longer had to introduce himself to potential clients, as these were the first ones to go looking for him and attempting to establish contact. For the man there was no greater victory, as the satisfaction of his clients had always been the most solid base for his objectives.

Today, the daughters are also founders of their own company, following the steps of the Father: determined, but cautious. The opportunity to start a new business has formed and together, by their hands, Fortuna & Tavares was born. This company is specialized in the assembly of fabric hangers and cardboards, but their passion for Decoration and the functions they developed in the beginning of the career never faded. This is why these women didn’t abandon the job in this area and, whenever asked, continue creating and sparing some time to the tasks their Father taught them. And that shall be the most precious treasure he could ever leave to them: the knowledge and the attitude that a professional should have in carrying out any work.
